Hello All!
We all stay in a world which is extremely well connected! Social networking has brought all of us close..we can check each others updates regularly, can get in touch with anyone anytime, can email each other anytime of the day and it reaches the receiver within seconds..send each other e-cards and Mobile connectivity..How could I forget that! Every person is an SMS away Or Just a call away (even International ones!)
But still I feel Handwritten letters have their own charm and beauty!
Few days back was cleaning up my desk when I found a big envelope with many letters that I received during my school n college days.. almost a span of 20 years.. It contained letters and cards addressed to me.. And once the envelope was opened I could not stop myself from reading all that one by one ( M blessed that my kiddo slept early to let me do all this ) And it brought back all the memories of the past 20 years.. one by one..
Can't describe the state of peace and satisfaction that I experienced.by reading them :)
And the best part was these all letters were a response to the letters that I sent them!
This all started with the festival of Rakhi! The preparations for Rakhi at my place would begin about 2 months in advance..we even used to make the Rakhis at home.. back in my school days!
It was my Mum who handed me the responsibility of writing handwritten letters along with the Rakhi envelope during my primary school days :)
Slowly and gradually I became used to writing one letter in every quarter.
I liked to describe the new happenings of my life to a few who were close.. and slowly and gradually I became so addicted to writing that Come What May.. I used to take out time to write letters and felt it to be a very nice way of entertainment as well as a way to enhance my writing skills as well as skills of describing things...
And this has been a routine since then..every Rakhi my relatives wait for the Handwritten Letter that comes along with the Rakhi!
Marriage and a kid had decreased the length of my letters to one small page of half A4 size page, which initially were about 2-3 A4 size pages.. So this Rakhi I made it a point that I write the same lengthy Rakhi letters and send it to everyone.. And I was more than delighted to get a call from my Bhabhis the very day that they received the letter stating that...
Oh it was so very good to read your long letter after such a long time! We have read it and re-read it so many times! Now we'll also continue writing at least 1 letter in a year! And we'll also try to instill the same habit in our kids.. Letters are really so important! Thank you for taking time out to write such a big letter and also post in before hand so that it reaches before time!
And I felt so good! Both coz I wrote them and coz I got such a nice response!
How many of you prefer handwritten letters? At least Reading if not writing !!!
Si te gusta leer la carta escrita a mano escribir una carta a un ser cercano y ver cómo se sienten especiales!
( If you like reading handwritten letter write a letter to a close one and see how Special they feel!)
:)
