Hey friends!
Hope you all have been doing gr8!
After a long break of watching movies, reasons for the break partly because there were no great movies coming up and Majorly because I feel lil Kaanha (my son) deserves more of the outdoor activities.
Due to this reason since past few months our outings were limited to evening or morning walks at Kalisot dam (a wonderful small dam near to our place, just a 3 minutes drive ) or the big parks where he would play with the Ball or just roam about and enjoy his evenings or early mornings :)
Oh well Did I divert from the title .. well Yes I was talking about the recent movie that I saw 'English Vinglish' (on 5th Oct last show) .. and I must say I simply loved the movie.
Not to mention Sridevi's acting is so very natural, the concept is good and new and the movie has a good pace..Well I am no film critic like Anupama Chopra or Mayank Shekhar.. but in my personal opinion I liked the movie.
Sridevi took a sabbatical of almost 15 years but Man... She just doesn't look like that........Not at all!!!!!
Her skin, Her figure.. her comic timing :) (which I have always loved) and her super expressions and super natural acting....uhh I just loved her in the movie !
A few things that I feel were really interesting about the movie was the display of the normal Indian Mom..in this case a Maharasthrian Home maker( I personally always refrain from the term Housewife coz I feel it just doesn't justify the Responsibilities and Duties of the Lady of the House)
The lady of the house in the movie
1) Gets up early and is done with her morning routine and is already done with the preparation of breakfast and also the tiffins for the family.
2) Doesn't get angry (even when her son tells her that her daughter has been to the Cafe Coffee Day outlet with friends including guys and not for a group study )
3) Apart from the daily activities of Laundry and Housekeerping and Cooking for the family she also manages to run a small business of her own - Making Ladoos!
4) She goes personally to each household to deliver her handmade ladoos. A very important part of business.
5) She saves money that she gets on selling her ladoos (since Saving is a virtue!) and uses that when she needs to join a language class.
6) She is told by a stranger that she is one of the most beautiful females he has come across and yet she doesn't let that become a dent to her already settled married life!
7) She misses her final exam of the language class just to make laddoos for her niece's wedding return gift.
8) She keeps her language class a surprise for every1 around except her niece who comes to know about it somehow and then helps her a lot.
9) She makes no air or boasting in front of the same family who doesn't respect her because of her lesser or no knowledge of English.
10) Last but not the least when asked to give blessings to a newly wed couple for whose marriage she had been to: She describes the Family as the most important bond explaining the fact that Come what may its your family who would always support you and stand by you.. even when her family dint do so!
These are the things which I observed and felt somewhere deep in my heart that at times we forget to respect our Mothers...there might be times when we try to Teach them things stating the fact that they Donot know it...
We have the complete right to tell them whats right and whats not but not at all at The Cost Of Their Self Respect.
If you are a girl and reading this make sure you take your Mum to go and watch the movie.. And Yes she says it right: "You would realise it When you become a Mom/Parent"
She is the most Special human Being to have come to Your Life and No1 else can take her place.
Take time out for your Mum and if needed agree to her statements and decisions without questioning them for once and for sometime... answer her anger with lots of love.. her worries for you with lots of concern instead of back answering n saying - "Mum you needn't worry bout me M old enough!"
Remember its only one life and you have only one Mother and
God knows for how long you may be together..
I might be sounding like a forwarded msg text but this is what came Straight from the heart.

I too took a chance to catch this flick last weekend n it indeed turned out to be a good decision.I'm sure 80-90% of traditional Indian homemakers living in cities could relate themselves to Sridevi's portrayal of character in movie. The meticulous humor & touchy instances are fantastically put by Gauri shinde- the director. N yes, d message that language is never the decisive parameter to judge intellect! Yea u said very right Nidhi, a must watch for every mother-daughter duo...
ReplyDeletewah wah
Deletei have read, nice way to express yr view regarding movie and as u have nice analytical way
ReplyDeleteSaw the movie and loved it. Nidhi nice way to express your writing. I am glad that I saw this movie, as it shows how house wife performs dual duties in her everyday life, but still not appreciated. Nice movie of emotions, well acted by Sri Devi.
ReplyDeleteA must watch movie for all family members.

I usually don't watch these sort of movies coz i belong to a completely different genre! Me aint a fan of sridevi but still couldn't deny the fact that she acted way too good in this movie. The story was perfect, The characters did justice and overall a nice screenplay with perfect blend of comedy and acting.
ReplyDeleteMy verdict: I'l rate 4.5 stars out of 5 !!
